A wire flame spray installation relies on compressed air as well as oxygen and fuel. If the air system is treated as an afterthought, the workshop may discover that the available supply changes when other equipment starts operating.

Describe the demand at the point of use

Send the equipment supplier the compressor details, receiver arrangement, distribution layout and other simultaneous air users. Nameplate capacity alone does not show the condition of the air reaching the spray equipment. Ask for the pressure, flow and air-quality requirements applicable to the exact gun configuration.

Include the connecting equipment

Hoses, filters, controls and connections need to suit the documented requirements. Longer routes or restrictive connections can change the supply available to the equipment. Have a qualified person assess the complete distribution system rather than selecting components only by their thread size.

Consider the whole coating cell

Blasting, extraction controls and other workshop equipment may share the compressor. Record which operations will run together and which will alternate. This helps avoid sizing the system around a gun operating alone when production involves several users.

Gun model and intended wire-feed configuration.
Compressor and receiver details.
Approximate connection length and existing treatment equipment.
Concurrent users and expected production pattern.
