The way a gun and component are held affects consistency as much as the choice of spray equipment. Before ordering a wire flame spray system, decide whether the proposed work is best handled manually, with a fixture or with controlled movement.

Define the part family

List the smallest and largest components, their weight, coating length and required access. A fixture designed around one sample may be unsuitable for another part in the same production order. Include loading and unloading space in the layout.

Identify the movement that needs control

For a shaft or roller, the plan may need component rotation and movement along its length. For another shape, a different path may be needed. State the required repeatability and production volume so that the supplier can discuss a suitable arrangement.

Keep process qualification in the plan

A mounted gun does not automatically create an accepted coating. Surface preparation, material, spray parameters and finishing still need an approved procedure. Trial parts should represent the real geometry and acceptance requirements.

Compare practical details

Loading, alignment and masking time.
Gun mounting and service-hose clearance.
Movement control and repeatable reference positions.
Access for cleaning, maintenance and inspection.

For mixed repair work, flexibility may be valuable. For repeated production, a dedicated fixture may reduce variation. Choose using the actual part mix and quality requirements rather than an assumption that the most automated option is always the best fit.
