For roller coating, the workpiece handling arrangement is as important as the spray gun. A suitable arc system needs to be considered alongside the roller length, diameter, support points and required coating area. These details influence the installation layout and production plan.

Define the functional surface

Mark journals, faces, shoulders and areas that must remain uncoated. State whether the coating is intended for dimensional restoration, wear performance or another surface function. Provide the required final geometry rather than relying on a general instruction to rebuild the roller.

Coordinate movement and access

The spray route must cover the required surface consistently while respecting the qualified procedure. Ask how the roller will be supported and moved, how the gun will traverse, and how access around shoulders will be managed. Handling equipment should be rated and selected for the actual workpiece.

Include finishing and verification

Consider the machining or grinding route, final surface texture and inspection points before coating. A successful spray operation is not a finished roller until the required dimensions and surface requirements are met. Agree the inspection record and any trial requirements with the responsible engineer.
